Synopsis
L’œuvre de Joseph Roth est faite d’ironie, de dérision, d’humour et d’une infinie compassion pour ses personnages. Une grande liberté d’expression alliée à une précision méticuleuse, une extrême rigueur, en font l’un des plus grands prosateurs de la langue allemande. Il a ce goût viennois de la plaisanterie, de la pointe amère et sceptique. Mais il a aussi un côté « prophète » qui s’exprime en particulier dans Le Poids de la grâce, et qui l’apparente parfois à Isaac B. Singer.
