About the Author:
Écrivain russe, Tchekhov est né à Taganrog en 1860 et mort à Badenweiler (Allemagne) en 1904. Nouvelliste et dramaturge, il publie d’abord ses textes dans des journaux sous divers pseudonymes pour augmenter ses revenus. Le succès est vite au rendez-vous mais il est atteint de la tuberculose. Il sera vite reconnu comme un nouveau Tolstoï ou Dostoievski, avant de mourir lors d’un voyage pour une cure.
