Synopsis
Series: Ldp Litterature - François Cheng est né en 1929 dans la province de Shandong, non loin du yang Tsé et des brumez du Mont Lu. Il vit en France depuis 1949. Universitaire, poète, calligraphe, traducteur en chinois de Baudelaire, Rimbaud, René Char, des surréalistes etc., auteur d'essais remarquable sur la poésie et l'art de la Chine, il a reçu en 1998 le prix Fémina pour son premier roman Le dit de Tianyi publié par Albin Michel et le prix André Malraux du livre d'art pour Shitao : la saveur du monde (Phébus). Une passion amoureuse à la fin de la dynastie Ming (XVIIe siècle). Dao-Sheng vit dans un monastère en pleine montagne, à la fois médecin et devin, il oscille entre bouddhisme et taoïsme, retenu de tout engagement définitif par un secret vieux de tente ans : son amour toujours vivace pour une fille juste entraperçue alors qu'il avait 20 ans. Aussi décide-t-il de mettre fin à cette obsession en descendant dans la plaine pour tenter d'y rencontrer celle qu'il a aimée. About the Author
Francois Cheng was born in 1929 in Shangdong Province, China. He moved to France in 1949 and was elected to the Academie Francaise in 2002. A poet, essayist, calligrapher, and translator, he has also written several novels, two of which have been translated into English: "The River Below" and "Green Mountain White Cloud".
