Jusqu'au jour où la Gestapo découvre à sa mère une ascendance juive.En 1954, lorsque Rodolphe retrouve Furtwängler, mourant, leurs histoires s'entrechoquent. Des questions surgissent entre un exilé, fils d'une mère déportée à Birkenau, et le chef qui a eu les honneurs de Hitler en personne.
