About the Author
"Jean Anglade est né à Thiers, en Auvergne, d'une mère domestique et d'un père ouvrier maçon. Formé à l'École normale d'instituteurs de Clermont-Ferrand, il enseigne et devient professeur de lettres, puis agrégé d'italien. Il a 37 ans lorsqu'il publie son premier roman, Le Chien du Seigneur. À partir de son neuvième ouvrage, Une pomme oubliée (1969), adapté pour la télévision, il consacre la plus grande part de son oeuvre à son pays natal, ce qui lui vaudra d'être surnommé le "" Pagnol auvergnat "". Romancier – avec plus d'une quarantaine de romans à son actif –, mais aussi essayiste, traducteur (de Boccace et de Machiavel), il est l'auteur de plus de quatre-vingts ouvrages et explore tous les genres : biographies (Blaise Pascal, Hervé Bazin), albums, poésie, théâtre, scénarios de films. Jean Anglade a beaucoup voyagé et habite aujourd'hui près de Clermont-Ferrand."
