Tous les soirs il fugue pour aller admirer les numéros de la jeune Clara, gracieuse dompteuse d'éléphant.France, années 60. C’est l’histoire de Louis, jeune orphelin rondouillard, élevé par les frères jésuites. Souffre douleur, il grandira sans réels amis. Les seuls bons moments que connaît Louis, sont ceux qu'il passe au cirque Marcos. Tout s'illumine alors, il sourit et s'égaie. Il y rencontre Clara, jeune dompteuse d'éléphant. Magnifique Clara, qui au gré des retours du cirque dans la ville devient sa confidente, son amie, son amante... Elle s’éprend de Louis, quitte sa famille et son cirque pour vivre avec lui. C’est une belle histoire d’amour que chacun de nous pourrait vivre, mais exacerbée par les embûches de la vie. C’est aussi une histoire d’amitié : entre un orphelin et son surveillant ; entre un jeune homme et Pégase, un éléphant, premier témoin de la passion entre Louis et Clara.

Nicolas Antona est né au même endroit que Napoléon. Il est enseignant à Paris et écrit des scénarios depuis 2007. Il rencontre Nina Jacqmin par internet et lui propose "La tristesse de l'éléphant". Nina Jacqmin est née à Bruxelles en 1989. Passionnée de dessin et d’animation, elle termine avec brio l'Ecole Supérieure de Saint-Luc (ESA). Tout en réalisant des projets de collaboration, elle se lance dans une formation d'infographiste. A la fin de celle-ci, elle rencontre N. Antona.
