Synopsis
Photographe de commande pour des éditoriaux dans les magazines de mode, Kuba Ryniewicz se livre aujourd’hui à un exercice plus personnel. Pour son premier livre d’artiste, Kuba d’origine polonaise récemment naturalisé britannique a troqué son studio pour l’étendue des campagnes anglaises et l’intimité de son pavillon de Newcastle. The Daily Weeding est composé de photographies en noir et blanc et en couleur prises à Montagu Estate dans le Nord Est de l’Angleterre. Loin d’un journal de voyage, Kuba donne à voir un album de famille, avec sa famille choisie. L’appareil photo témoigne de l’attachement qu’il a noué avec ce pays qui l’accueille depuis plus de 15 ans. Kuba nous présente son mari Jon, observe la banalité du quotidien heureux de son couple : une coupe de cheveux dans le jardin, le désherbage et le linge qui sèche expressément avant que la pluie anglaise ne vienne contrarier son élan. Le dialogue se prolonge avec la rencontre de ses plus proches amis, Roxy, Paul, Ania et Max, profitant de petits moments simples et burlesques. Cette proximité avec ceux qui l’entoure parvient à nous faire considérer aussi les bâtiments et les animaux en pâturage comme des membres de son entourage. Le livre propose une balade poétique et comique entre l’architecture et une communauté qui manifeste une profonde amitié. The Daily Weeding est accompagné d’une fiction de Yelena Moskovich et d’un court essai de l’écrivaine britannique Olivia Laing.
