Chambord est le plus fabuleux et le plus paradoxal des châteaux français. Voulu pour remplir les fonctions d'un pavillon de chasse, il fut en réalité conçu comme le plus extravagant palais de son temps, le plus moderne et le plus grand, mais oublié au coeur d'une forêt. Symbole politique pour François 1er, image du pouvoir royal, il éblouit les plus grands souverains d'alors mais resta par la suite désespérement vide d'habitants.
