Synopsis
Alors que les enfants du quartier jouent au football dans la rue, le père de Daniel, un ami de Pedro, est arrêté sous leurs yeux parce qu'il est contre la dictature. Un peu plus tard, un militaire vient dans l'école de Pedro, et demande aux élèves de décrire ce qui se passe le soir chez eux, les discussions, les visites... Que va raconter Pedro, dont les parents luttent eux aussi contre le pouvoir des militaires ? Toute l'intelligence de cet album, c'est d'adopter d'un bout à l'autre le point de vue d'un jeune garçon qui, en posant des questions, mais surtout en observant et en interprétant les non-dits, esaie de décrypter la réalité qui l'entoure. Pour autant, le lecteur ignore ce que Pedro sait exactement au moment où il se met à écrire sa rédaction. D'où l'incroyable suspense qui sous-tend la seconde partie de l'album, jusqu'à la dernière page... où l'on apprend qu'il faut décidément faire confiance aux enfants.
