About the Authors
Gilbert Romeyer Dherbey est professeur émérite de philosophie à l'université Paris-Sorbonne et directeur honoraire du centre Léon-Robin (CNRS - Paris-Sorbonne). Spécialiste d'Aristote, de Condillac, de Maine de Biran et de Guyau, il étudie également les rapports entre littérature et philosophie et a notamment publié Les sophistes (Paris, 2012).
Luc Fraisse est professeur de littérature française à l'université de Strasbourg. Directeur de la Revue d'études proustiennes, il a consacré l'essentiel de ses travaux à l'oeuvre de Proust, dont il réédite actuellement le roman. Invité à inventorier le fonds Proust laissé par Bernard de Fallois, il en a récemment exhumé des travaux scolaires et des nouvelles inédites de l'écrivain.

Cet ouvrage suit la pensée proustienne dans son cheminement interne qui nous conduit, à travers une métaphysique de la temporalité, de l'expérience sensible à une philosophie de l'Esprit que Proust nomme « idéalisme ». Il s'agit de reconstruire cette pensée à partir de formulations énoncées comme en passant, de la deviner sous le glacis des métaphores qui souvent la recouvre, comme on devine un corps sous l'ample vêtement qui l'enveloppe, une pensée que le romancier a pris soin de cacher, afin d'éviter tout didactisme.
