Né à Paris en 1947, Christian Jacq découvre l'Égypte à treize ans, à travers ses lectures, et se rend pour la première fois au pays des pharaons quelques années plus tard. L'Égypte et l'écriture prennent désormais toute la place dans sa vie. Après des études de philosophie et de lettres classiques, il s'oriente vers l'archéologie et l'égyptologie, et obtient un doctorat d'études égyptologiques en Sorbonne avec pour sujet de thèse : " Le voyage dans l'autre monde selon l'Égypte ancienne. " Christian Jacq publie alors une vingtaine d'essais, dont L'Égypte des grands pharaons chez Perrin en 1981, couronné par l'Académie française. Il fut un temps collaborateur de France Culture, notamment pour l'émission " Les Chemins de la connaissance ". En même temps il publie des romans historiques qui ont pour cadre l'Égypte antique et des romans policiers sous des pseudonymes. Son premier succès est Champollion l'Égyptien. Ses romans suscitent la passion des lecteurs en France comme à l'étranger : Le juge d'Égypte, Ramsès,La Pierre de Lumière, Le procès de la momie, Imhotep, l'inventeur d'éternité. Sa dernière trilogie, Et l'Égypte s'éveilla (XO Éditions, 2011) explore le mystère de la dynastie zéro, au berceau de la civilisation égyptienne. Christian Jacq est aujourd'hui traduit dans plus de trente langues.
