Ce témoignage mis en images et en couleurs par un autre révolté, familier et complice de l'univers de Karim Miské : Antoine Silvestri.Né d'un père mauritanien, diplomate et musulman et d'une mère française, assistante sociale puis professeure, athée et féministe, Karim Miské est une bizarrerie pour les autres : une «tête d'Arabe avec des manières de Blanc». Ecartelé entre des univers différents ainsi qu'entre la France et la Mauritanie, auxquelles s'ajoute l'Albanie, Karim Miské s'est trouvé un navire pour traverser l'existence : la littérature.S'appartenir est nourri des lectures d'Arendt, Sartre, Balzac, Orwell, Manchette, des musiques de Johnny Rotten, Patti Smith, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, enrichi des références plastiques d'Antoine Silvestri : Egon Schiele, Léonard de Vinci, Le Caravage, Goya, Michel-Ange... L'adaptation graphique permettra un accès à un public élargi, ces problématiques étant au coeur de la société en pleine mutation dans laquelle nous vivons.

Né en 1964, à Abidjan, Karim Miské est documentariste. Il a réalisé la série de documentaires pour ARTE intitulée Juifs et musulmans : si loin, si proches. Paru en 2012, Arab Jazz a connu un grand succès commercial et critique.Né en 1974, Antoine Silvestri est d'origine autrichienne par sa mère et italienne par son père. Il a grandi dans une famille communiste militante. Ces origines, comme dans le cas de Karim Miské, l'ont confronté très tôt aux préjugés. Il exerce son talent dans tous les arts. S'appartenir est son premier roman graphique.
