About the Author
John Berger est né à Londres en 1926 et vit en France depuis plus de trente ans. Il est à la fois peintre, écrivain et scénariste. Il a enseigné le dessin de 1948 à 1955. Ses œuvres sont exposées dans diverses galeries londoniennes. Scénariste, il collabore à plusieurs films d’Alain Tanner : La Salamandre, Le Milieu du monde, Jonas qui aura 25 ans en l’an 2000, etc. Il est aussi l’auteur, avec Nella Bielski, de plusieurs pièces de théâtre et contribue régulièrement au Monde diplomatique. Très engagé politiquement, il est l’un des grands défenseurs de la cause palestinienne et des Indiens du Chiapas.
