Synopsis
Première publication à traiter du travail développé depuis 2002 par l'artiste américain Oscar Tuazon, I Can't See se situe dans la continuité des expositions monographiques organisées récemment par le Centre international d'art et du paysage de l'île de Vassivière (France), la Kunsthalle Bern (Suisse) et le Parc Saint Léger - Centre d'art contemporain (France). Elle échappe pourtant au format habituel du premier catalogue, en se présentant avant tout comme un essai visuel, un récit à clefs construit par Oscar Tuazon avec le graphiste Pierre-François Letué. Cet ensemble de plus de 250 images couleur se compose de trois chapitres, lié chacun à une des expositions de l'artiste, et est entrelacé de courtes fictions, essais, poèmes ou chroniques des textes d'auteurs et critiques d'art proches de l'artiste (Ariana Reines, Matthew Stadler, Cedar Sigo, Karl Holmqvist, Thomas Boutoux, Carissa Rodriguez, Eileen Myles et David Lewis), qui abordent son travail à travers leur propre expérience et la subjectivité de leur écriture. En fin de volume, un entretien mené par les commissaires des trois expositions, Chiara Parisi, Sandra Patron et Philippe Pirotte, est l'occasion pour Oscar Tuazon d'évoquer longuement sa pratique artistique, ses influences, ses modes de travail et sa position dans le champ de la sculpture actuelle. I Can't See est édité en collaboration par Paraguay Press et Do.Pe. Press, et coproduit par le Centre international d'art et du paysage de l'île de Vassivière, la Kunsthalle de Berne, et le Parc Saint Léger - Centre d'art contemporain.
