Synopsis

Ruth Bloch was born in 1951 to artistic parents. Her father was a musician and her mother a ceramic artist. An avid painter from an early age, Ruth attended the Avny Art Institute where her talent was immediately recognized by her professors. She was encouraged to continue working in her own creative mode and to develop the personal style that characterizes her sculpture today.
Warm and friendly, Bloch's sculpture is concerned with love and relationships, concepts which are manifested in her work. The sculpture "Dialogue" for example, portrays a mother cradling her child in a loving embrace where the bond between the two is symbolized by the fusion of their arms. Trust and tenderness are implicit in the child's gaze which meets with adoring maternal eyes, eyes that we can only imagine as the faces have no distinct features. Bloch's work evokes and therein lies its allure and mystery.
