Ludwig wurde am 12.2.1813 in Eisfeld/Werra geboren. Ohne abgeschlossene Schulbildung erlernte er den Kaufmannsberuf, studierte kurzzeitig Musik, entschied sich aber dann für die Literatur. Außer mit der TragödieDer Erbförsterwar er mit Erzählungen erfolgreich. Er starb fast mittellos am 25.2.1865 in Dresden.
