Synopsis

Cyclodextrins have the ability to solubilize hydrophobic drugs by providing a conical cavity to encapsulate it and hence used for drug delivery. So it is interesting to study the interaction of an anti cancer agent i.e.; gallic acid with cyclodextrin in aqueous media. Different physico-chemical properties such as density, viscosity are used as tools to study the interactions. Uv-spectroscopic study establishes formaion of 1:1 inclusion complex. Various results reveal that the solutions are characterized predominantly by solute -solvent interactions and gallic acid behaves as a long-range structure maker.

Abhijit Sarkar by profession an engineer and also a researcher in the Department of Chemistry, University of North Bengal. He has 15 published research articles in different reputed journals. Dr. Biswajit Sinha is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry, University of North Bengal. He has authored over 60 research articles and books.
