Synopsis
Krakow 1942: A young girl is abducted in the besieged city and taken by force to Frankfurt. Here, she has to work as a maid for a wealthy family. Frankfurt on a cold winter's evening in January, 2006: Henriette Winkler, the eighty-five-year-old head of Winkler Building, is nervous. She thinks she has seen a strange man in the garden of her big city villa. When Frau Radek, the housekeeper, arrives the next morning, she finds Henriette Winkler brutally murdered. Myriam Singer, the public prosecutor in charge of the case, goes with Chief Inspector Henri Liebler to bring the sad news to Denise, the murdered woman's granddaughter. But Denise is already agitated, for her little boy, Frederik, hasn't returned from school. It soon becomes clear that Frederik Winkler has been kidnapped. For Myriam, a woman who is as successful as she is controversial and who goes by the unflattering nickname of ""Iron Lady"", this case is particularly challenging: Denise Winkler and Myriam were school friends until they both fell in love with the same boy.
