The Lahn Dill area is an economic area characterised by mining and industry. Geographically, this space can only be delineated blurred. The name was created when the region on which the dill (river) and the upper and middle Lahn was still one of the most important ore areas and the most important locations of the iron producing and iron-processing industry of the German Empire. In the 70s of the previous century, the largest commercial density was not found between Ruhr and Emscher, but in the Lahn-Dill area.
