Synopsis
Die Kriegskindergeneration ist im Ruhestand, die eigenen Kinder sind längst aus dem Haus. Bei vielen kommen jetzt die Erinnerungen allmählich hervor und mit ihnen auch Ängste, manchmal sogar die unverarbeiteten Kriegserlebnisse. Sie wollen nun über sich selbst nachdenken und sprechen. Der Psychoanalytiker Horst-Eberhard Richter spricht von einer »verschwiegenen, unentdeckten Welt«. Mit den Holocaust-Opfern habe man sich eingehend beschäftigt, mit der Kriegskindergeneration nie. Ihnen wurde gesagt: »Sei froh, daß du überhaupt überlebt hast. Vergiß alles und schau lieber nach vorne!« Sie haben den Bombenkrieg miterlebt oder die Vertreibung, ihre Väter waren im Feld, in Gefangenschaft oder sind gefallen. Diese Erinnerungen haben sie bislang in sich verschlossen gehalten, sie trösteten sich mit der Einstellung: »Andere haben es noch viel schlimmer gehabt als wir.« So wurde eine ganze Generation geprägt: Man funktionierte, baute auf, fragte wenig, jammerte nie, wollte vom Krieg nichts hören - und man konnte kein Brot wegwerfen.
