This dissertation is about modularity of mind, and a network of related problems. Modularity is a familiar idea in the foundations of cognitive science, but less clear is just how modularity relates to tacit knowledge, nativism, and domain-specificity, as well as computationalism, neuroscience, connectionism, developmental psychology, and a dozen other progressive programs. This book attempts to clarify the current picture of cognitive architecture.
