Synopsis
The concept of disaster management has received considerable research attention in natural and human disaster context, but the role of communication strategies in managing political violence has not been comprehensively studied and documented. In this book, Patrick Maluki and Nelly Oluoch explore the various communication strategies employed by the Kenya Red Cross Society in managing the 2008 postelection disaster in Eldoret, Kenya. The focus of the book is on the different communication strategies that humanitarian organisations can use to mitigate the impact of disasters whenever they occur. The book is recommended for university lecturers and students in communication studies, disaster management, and conflict resolution as well as communication professionals in humanitarian and related organisations.

Patrick Maluki is a lecturer and consultant at the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies, University of Nairobi. Nelly Muluka Oluoch is a Public Relations Manager at the Kenya Red Cross Society.
