Teachers' Perceptions Towards Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is intended to meet the serious need of Communicative Language Teaching knowledge in EFL countries especially in African countries. This book provides an overview of CLT practices in an African context, it provides the reader understand the meaning and nature of communicative language teaching by presenting the meaning of CLT, its historical background and challenges that Tanzanian English language teachers face when implementing CLT, such challenges include lack of authentic teaching and learning materials, large class size, student’s low level of communicative competence and teachers’ low knowledge of CLT. It ends by suggesting various recommendations for actions to be taken by educational stake holders in order to improve the CLT classroom practices.

Mr. Cosmas Anyelwisye Mahenge is an assistant lecturer at the University Of Dodoma. He did his Bachelor of Education in Arts at the University of Dar es salaam from 2005 to 2008. In 2009 he joined the University of Dodoma where he is currently working to Pursue Masters of Education in Arts, where by he graduated on November 2011.
