Public libraries exist in many countries across the world and are often considered an essential part of having an educated and literate population. Public libraries are distinct from research libraries, school libraries, and other special libraries in that their mandate is to serve the general public's information needs. Public libraries typically allow users to take books and other materials off the premises temporarily; they also have non-circulating reference collections and provide computer and Internet access to patrons. Rural information needs have given population revolved round the life pattern and rural condition of those people. As majority of rural population in India has agriculture and allied areas. People in urban areas can gratify their information needs, but in rural areas, we cannot say that they may fulfill their information needs. Actually, their information needs are differ than the urban people. This book is a well researched work will definitely prove ideal for the rural users, Research scholars and Librarians and LIS students.

About the Author
Working as Librarian, Nabira Mahavidyalaya, Katol, Nagpur, Maharashtra since 15 years. He obtained his Ph.D. Degree from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University in 2012. He has 20 publications on various aspects of LIS. His areas of interest are library automation, library networking, web 2.0 technology and IT applications in LIS.
