Synopsis

Acute complication manifested in T2DM is severe or acute hyperglycaemia and such manifestation often requires hospitalization. Inpatient management usually involves insulin therapy. Despite numerous drawbacks, variable rate intravenous insulin infusion is always utilized instead of basal bolus insulin therapy which is a more appropriate therapy to use. To date, the study on treating severe or acute hyperglycaemia is limited.

Dr. Hasniza Zaman Huri obtained her PhD (Clinical Pharmacy, Human Genomics & Pharmacogenomics) and Master in Clinical Pharmacy from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and B. Pharm (Honours) from University of Malaya. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and she lectures the clinical pharmacy an pharmaceutical biotechnology modules
