Synopsis

Rainer Fetting belongs to a group of young artists which made furore as "Young Wilds" (Neue Wilde) in 1980. The intense paintings were emotional and direct, very colourful, and objective. He got famous with his portrait of Willy Brandt. His international breakthrough came in 1981 with the exhibition "A New Spirit in Painting." The exhibition Here are the lemons presents works out of 50 years and all categories, and therefore gives a good insight in the multifaceted work of Rainer Fetting, who today belongs to one of the great German artists of present times.

About the Author

Studied art history, middle and modern history and philosophy at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University Münster (Westphalia), Master of arts in modern history, 1995 promotion in art history on the German sculptor Hans Wimmer. Working for the Schleswig-Holstein State Museums since 1996, 1998-2011 Head of the museum’s educational department. Curator of the Rolf Horn Foundation since 2009 and Curator of the sculpture department and for regional history since 2011. Publications on the history of sculpture, painting of the classical modern and modern as well as the Schleswig-Holstein state history Art Historian and Historian, born 1963 in Hannover, studies at the University Trier and the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), 2001 doctors degree, 1997–2009 academic assistant at foundation Bauhaus Dessau, 2005-09 leader of collection and research and deputy director of the foundation, 2009–13 director of the Museum der Arbeit in Hamburg, 2010-11 leader of the foundation Historische Museen Hamburg, since September 2013 director of the Landesmuseum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte Schloss Gottorf in Schleswig, member of the german UNESCO-commission for the pogramme "Memory of the world"
