About the Author:
Manfred Hellweg, geboren am 9. Mai 1941 in Recklinghausen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Gelernter Buchdrucker, anschließend Meisterprüfung und Betriebsleiter einer Druckerei. Nach 43 Berufsjahren aus dem graphischen Gewerbe verabschiedet in den wohlverdienten Ruhestand. Mit 57 Jahren erst die Acryl-Malerei entdeckt und dann das Schreiben. Von alten schwarz-weiß Postkarten seiner Heimatstadt, aus der Zeit um 1900 naturgetreue farbige Acryl-Bilder gemalt, verschönern jetzt seine Wohnung. Als vierjähriger Junge sah er im Mai 1945 (Kriegsende) direkt vor seiner Haustür amerikanische Soldaten einmarschieren. Von da an war er neugierig auf Amerika und seine Bewohner. Bei vielen Besuchen der USA sind ihm überall, besonders in der Vorweihnachtszeit, Santa Claus, Rudolph the red-nosed Reindeer und seine Rentiercrew über den Weg gelaufen. Das hat ihn veranlasst diese Geschichten einmal ganz anders zu erzählen.
