James Turrell (b. 1943 in Los Angeles) studied at Pomona College, UC Irvine, and Claremont Graduate School, and began showing his art in the late 60s. He had a one-person exhibit at the Whitney Museum in 1980 and at MOCA L.A. in 1985, among many other museums and galleries throughout the world. He lives and works in Flagstaff, Arizona.
