One hundred icons of art.
Creativity and Connection celebrates a century of art, featuring one hundred works from the collection of Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG) in Bethlehem, PA. With reflective essays accompanying each selection, the book weaves together history with fresh community perspectives on the museum’s collection, now spanning over 20,000 objects.
Opening with a first-ever history of the museum by independent scholar Keidra Daniels Navaroli, the book brings to life iconic and masterful paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, and material culture collected over the past century. Personal writings by students, faculty, staff, artists, and community members—in styles ranging from the poetic to the analytical—illuminate the distinctive maker DNA of Lehigh University, where art has shaped teaching, campus life, and LUAG’s vision for the future.
Featured artists include Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Pierre Bonnard, Margaret Bourke-White, Walker Evans, Thomas Gainsborough, Héctor García, Francisco de Goya, Carmen Herrera, Ellsworth Kelly, Käthe Kollwitz, Pablo Picasso, Diego Rivera, George Segal, Edward Steichen, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Kay WalkingStick, and many more.

Paperback. Condition: New. This book shows some of Uwe Wittwer's most impressive works, offering an immersive experience of his ongoing creative journey. Through watercolour and oil alike, Wittwer creates a delicate interplay between real and imagined, past and present, allowing readers to question authenticity and memory's shifting nature. The lavishly illustrated volume invites readers into Wittwer's world, where his technique beautifully complements his themes of visual truth and cultural reflection. While many artists use watercolour as a preparatory tool, Wittwer elevates it to stand on par with his oil paintings. References from art history, personal and familial topics, cinematic influences, colonial themes, and the impact of war characterise Wittwer's decades spanning work. His compositions often symbolize the erasure and loss caused by war, a very current topic. Seller Inventory # LU-9783777446691
