Synopsis

A Trick of the Eye includes examples of trompe l’oeil pieces from Renaissance masters such as van Eyck and Veronese to modern works by Rene Magritte and Duane Hanson, among many others. Engaging texts describe each work, but the real magic is in the illustrations, which offer an intriguing visual experience.

About the Author
Eckhard Hollmann is an editor and art historian who lives in Munich, Germany. His books include Icons of Art: The 20th Century, Paul Gauguin: Images from the South Seas, and Marla Sybilla Marian: The St. Petersburg Watercolors (all by Prestel). He lives near Munich, Germany. Jurgen Tesch is publisher and initiator of many book projects at Prestel. Also co-author of Icons of Art: The 20th Century (Prestel).
