Bourgeois's personal history is vastly important in the content of her work, and this book takes readers on a journey from her affluent childhood in France, including family photographs, to her schooling under painter Fernand Léger to her eventual marriage and move to the United States, where she continued her long and varied career working primarily as a sculptor and installation artist.
