Condition: Very Good. 1981 Karger (Basel, Switzerland), 6 1/8 x 9 inches tall black buckram cloth hardcover, no dust jacket (as issued), gilt lettering to spine, original orange wraps bound in, illustrated with black-and-white line drawings and maps, xvi, 232 pp. In gilt letters to the bottom of the spine, the last name of the prior owner who had this uncommon volume bound, Dr. Jim Dolan, who served as General Curator at the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park for decades. Otherwise, a very good to near fine copy - clean, bright and unmarked. ~SP44~ [2.0P] The deposits from Samos Island have produced over 10,000 well-preserved mammal fossils in 100 years of collecting. However, these fossils had never been related to the local geology or stratigraphy. A review of the entire Samos fauna in 17 museums has brought to light many unreported species. This, in addition to taxonomic revision of most taxa, accounts for the 47 previously unreported species listed here.
