Obwohl Versuche z.B. einer Ermittlung widerspruchsfreier sozialer Präferenzordnungen oft unbefriedigend bleiben, lässt sich die gesellschaftliche Wohlfahrt näher bestimmen. Das ist nach Ansicht des Verfassers mit einem streng individualistischen Ansatz möglich, der ein Assoziations- oder Lernprinzip einschliesst und mit dem Normen endogen bestimmt werden können.
