Lebanon at 1:200,000, plus a street plan of Beirut, on an indexed, waterproof and tear-resistant road map with topographic and tourist information. The map, published by Reise Know-How as part of their highly acclaimed World Mapping Project is double-sided and has a road map of Lebanon on one side, with half of the reverse side covered by the street plan of Beirut and the remainder containing an index for the road map.
Clear topographic base has altitude colouring with contours, spot heights, and names of mountain ranges. Seasonal rivers and lakes, springs and hot springs are marked. Protected areas and cedar forests are highlighted. Road network includes selected local tracks, gives driving distances on many secondary routes, and shows locations of border crossings. Railway lines, local airfields and oil or gas pipelines are also marked. Internal administrative boundaries are shown with names of the provinces. Names of main towns are also shown in Arabic, with all other place names only in Latin alphabet.
Symbols highlight various places of interest, including UNESCO world heritage sites, archaeological remains, churches, castles, etc. Campsites and locations with hotel accommodations are indicated. The map has a grid with latitude and longitude at intervals of 10 , and an extensive index of localities. Coverage includes Damascus and the northern part of the Golan Heights (pre-1967 boundaries but with the UNDOF Zone). Map legend includes English.
Half of the reverse side is taken by a clear, easy-to-read street plan of Beirut, annotated with various facilities and places of interest, including selected hotels, banks, embassies, etc. The plan is not indexed.

What is the world mapping project?
The world mapping project is the map series by leading German publisher for individual style travel guides and language guides REISE KNOW-HOW. Starting in 2001 it has grown to one of the most comprehensive map series with over 190 titles covering destinations from Alaska to the Congo, from New Zealand to Lake Baikal and from Java to the Azores.
What is special about world mapping project maps?
World mapping project maps are printed on PolyArt, an almost indestructible plastic paper. The maps are drawn by German and Swiss cartographers to meet the highest standards in accuracy AND usability. Their accuracy and the geographic grid allow to use them together with GPS devices. Large scale maps also offer UTM-Grid. Clear modern layout, contour lines and coloured contour layers as well as easy-to-access touristic information mark the appearance of the maps. Coming in rip-off paper covers, the maps are foldable and fit into every pocket.
Why haven t I heard about the world mapping project if it s so good?
Our main market so far is the German-speaking countries. We are in fact market leader in Germany for Africa, South America and Asia! But our maps can also be found in shops in Spain, Italy, France, Netherlands, USA and elsewhere. We enjoy a fast growing range of customers - including travellers, tour operators, professionals and human aid workers.
My customers usually don t speak German. Will that be a problem?
The covers (incl. the map key) of most maps already feature information in German, English, French and Spanish, and of the newer maps even now in Russian. Information in the map is usually in English and in German or in the language spoken in the country (e.g. Spanish in the Chile map). Readers with some command of English won t miss any important information. Since 2017 we use the English name as main title on the cover of each map.
