About the Author:

Deidi von Schaewen, who has lived in Paris for thirty years, is a contributor to a range of international periodicals and a filmmaker, and has published numerous books. Her publications with TASCHEN include Indian Interiors, Fantasy Worlds, Gardens of Provence, and Inside Africa.

Marie-Françoise Valéry studied English and political science before devoting herself to landscape gardening, an area in which she is a recognized expert. She has written a large number of gardening books on various topics, as well as articles for well-known French garden and design magazines.

Angelika Taschen studied art history and German literature in Heidelberg, gaining her doctorate in 1986. Working for TASCHEN from 1987 to 2010, she has published numerous titles on art, architecture, photography, design, travel, and lifestyle.

Von Schaewen, a freelance photographer, has a remarkable eye for capturing the gardens of France. Her color images exhibit the same refined sense for artful arrangements as do the gardens she photographs. But the lack of any commentary or history beyond the brief introductory paragraph to each garden, provided by Valery, makes this title little more than another beautiful coffee-table book in three languages.
