Earthquake problems are globally considered to be a research topic of importance since many countries are subject to this natural disaster, particularly those at the ring of fire or the circum-Pacific seismic belt. In this book, the key factor for evaluating safety problem, i.e. peak ground acceleration, is estimated by using computational intelligence and microtremor measurement. The obtained results show that the estimation can be improved by incorporating global search capability of genetic algorithm in neural network computation. The contents of this book provide some basic concepts for general readers who are interested in both the seismic related problems and artificial intelligence. Also, the results presented provide valuable information for academic researchers, engineering designers in practice, government agencies, and those who need a reference to perform further work in the area investigated. Although the present scope of the study is limited to the island of Taiwan, due to the similarity of earthquake effects and recorded data, the seismic issue and the method illustrated in this book are applicable to other regions of interest around the world.
