Synopsis
Thomas Morus: Utopia Auf Betreiben von Erasmus von Rotterdam veröffentlicht Thomas Morus 1516 seinen lateinisch verfassten Dialog über eine ideale Gesellschaft. Die Erzählung eines Reisenden von den Utopiern und deren auf vernünftigen Grundsätzen beruhendes Gesellschaftssystem wird genreprägend und beeinflusst die Weltliteratur bis heute. Erstdruck unter dem Titel Libellus vere aureus nec minus salutaris quam festivus de optimo reipublicae statu deque nova insula Utopia, Löwen 1516; erste deutsche Übersetzung unter dem Titel Von der wunderbarlichen Innsel Vtopia genant, Basel 1524. Der Text folgt der Übersetzung von Ignaz Emanuel Wessely von 1896 und wird in unveränderter Rechtschreibung wiedergegeben. Vollständige Neuausgabe mit einer Biographie des Autors. Herausgegeben von Karl-Maria Guth. Berlin 2016. Textgrundlage ist die Ausgabe: Thomas Morus: Utopia. Übersetzt und mit sachlichen Anmerkungen versehen von Ignaz Emanuel Wessely, München: M.
