With increasing competition and evolution of global economy, organizations the world over, are under tremendous pressure to improve their performance not only for sheer survival but also for accelerated growth. The sources of improvement in an organization mainly are improvements in human systems. There is a little research work available related to HRM in insurance industry specifically related to LIC, which has come into limelight after its privatization in the year 2000. The objectives of this book are: To study the Recruitment and Selection policy, Training and development policies, Performance Appraisal system of LIC and the changes made in HRM practices in the changed scenario.

Rupinder Kaur Gill, Ph.D., Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab. She has taught for seven years in this university and currently Lecturer at G.H.S. Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib, Patiala, Punjab, India. Ritu Lehal, Ph.D.,is Professor at, DDE, Punjabi University, Patiala, punjab. She has more than 21 years of teaching and research experience.
