Rassmotreny varianty kataliticheskogo NBO s ispol'zovaniem razlichnykh gomogennykh katalizatorov – antrakhinona, orto-fenantrolina, polietilenglikolya i stabilizirovannogo polisul'fida. Issledovan mekhanizm vzaimodeystviya lignina i NB v shchelochnoy srede, vydvinuta novaya kontseptsiya mekhanizma vzaimodeystviya lignina i nitrobenzola. Predlozheny soedineniya, potentsial'no sposobnye effektivno zamenit' NB. Pokazana vozmozhnost' sinteza zameniteley nitrobenzola iz tekhnicheskikh ligninov. Obnaruzhena vozmozhnost' povysheniya vykhoda al'degidov pri osushchestvlenii protsessa NBO v srede kataliticheski okislennykh belykh sul'fatnykh shchelokov. Ustanovleno, chto sintezirovannye iz tekhnicheskikh ligninov zameniteli NB effektivny kak mediatory pri okislenii lignina do aromaticheskikh al'degidov kislorodom.
