Unlike the myths of Greek antiquity, the fairy tales from the country on the Aegean Sea are largely unknown. The characters and beings are both eerily familiar and completely alien. Kaleidoscope-like ancient sagas mix with Christian influences, Byzantine with Ottoman traditions. Beautiful young men are stuck in snake skin and show their true face only at night, Cinderella has his appearance as a chicken dirt and becomes the mistress of a walking castle, and a poor man wins the favor of a king because he cannot sleep because of a pea.
