I like you, I like you a lot is a personal work about family and the experience of death and mourning. It responds to the tragic loss of the photographer's 13-year-old brother Maks, who drowned while on a scout's trip in 2008 in Poland. The pictures reveal the sequence of events in the aftermath of the tragedy. Alicja Dobrucka's camera became a protecting shield from the brutal reality of a helpless situation. Maks and his friends were also first generation to grow up under an increasingly Westernised culture, and the camera witnesses how they were enthralled by Western - and especially American -archetypes.

Perfetto (Mint). . Prima edizione (First Edition). . "I like you, I like you a lot" is a personal work, about family and the experience of death and mourning. It responds to the tragic loss of the artist's 13-year-old brother Maks, who drowned while on a scout's trip in May 2008 in Poland. Initially the work is documentary in character and reveals the sequence of events in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy. The deceased brother and his closest friends formed a small group: dressing in the uniforms of American soldiers they would play in the mountains and forest around the town. The artist investigated the places Maks loved, led by the remaining boys of his group. Communism officially ended in 1990 when Poland opened its borders to a flood of Western products, arts, ideas and ideals. In this respect, to document the loss her brother through the continuing lives of his friends is also to document a certain loss of Polish identity. "I like you, I like you a lot" è un'opera personale, sulla famiglia e sull'esperienza della morte e del lutto. Book. Seller Inventory # bc_229990
