Known for his site-specific installations and wall paintings, Franz Ackermann (born 1963) has developed an innovative exhibition concept specifically for the study hall of the Karlsruhe Kunsthalle: In the context of his Mental Maps series, small-scale sketches in watercolour and gouache, the artist has created works on paper specifically sized for the display cases of the historic hall. In doing so, he has created artworks, which underscore the three-dimensionality of these showcases.
