Synopsis

This third part of a trilingual and three-volume dictionary of electrical engineering, telecommunications and electronics, contains approximately 30,000 terms in English, French and German. English is the key language in Part III. The terms are listed alphabetically in the left-hand column, and in the other two columns of each page are given the French and German equivalents, usually several for each English word of phrase, collected by the compiler during his decade-long activity as a technical translator. Particular attention has been given to those expressions not found or inadequately defined in other dictionaries, standard or technical. Every effort has also been made to include the phraseology which has emerged in recent years, due to the rapid advancements in the respective technical fields. Apart from the principal branches of technology, related fields were taken into account in selecting the terminology, as were general physics, chemistry and mathematics, which it is hoped will to the largest possible extent obviate reference to other special dictionaries. The compiler and publishers hope the present volume will be a worthy companion to Part 1 (German - English - French) and Part II (French - English - German) and will also meet with the approval of engineers, students, translators, and all those concerned with the study of foreign trade literature, with the export business and the translation of technical correspondence.
