Synopsis
A bilingual ( German & English ) book of photographs of the Combat Engineers of the Waffen-SS. It shows how they did their duty making a decisive contribution on the battlefield fighting as Infantrymen or as Armored Engineers in Assault Battalions. They gave all they had with many sacrificing their lives. Many were finished off by brutal captivity, and post war discrimination. Those who dispute their brave honor have no notion of a soldiers honor and loyalty, and they would never be able to exhibit manly courage themselves. This documentary photo chronicle shows what the actions of the Combat Engineers of the Waffen-SS were like. They lost the war, but not their honor !

Review
This is a nice photo album of the combat engineers of the Waffen-SS, covering them from 1935-1945. All text is in German/English. While this is mostly a book of photos, interspersed throughout are nice explanations of what being a combat engineer was about. Details of the special weapons used and the various tasks of combat engineers are particularly informative. The photos range from the early years of training, combat, garrison activities, many bridge laying operations, mine clearing, etc. Overall you get to see pretty much all the wide ranging duties that the German combat engineers did. This is a great book, and the printing on heavy gloss paper and binding are well done --Joseph Burgard
As a combat engineer myself, I enjoy the diversity of missions the German engineers undertook. Primarily a picture book, the text also provides high quality insight into the how and why of their fight. I was amused to find photographs of bridge training in 1939 using equipment very similar to equipment that the US Army still used in 1990. --A Customer
