Synopsis
The photographic work of the multitalented Swiss artist Jive is published here for the first time. The female body lies at the heart of Jive's work. He pictures voluptuous, sensuous women, shown in their compelling femininity, that appear at times almost overpowering. Jive stages his models in a fascinating mixture of glamour and documentation and expertly plays with elements from pop art, B-movies, and trash culture. Jive's pictures have enormous erotic appeal. He seems to be forever looking for the Ur-woman, maybe even for some sort of superwoman, and the sensuous bodies of the models very often speak for themselves. Jive's photographic style underlines and increases the natural beauty of his models. His pictures not only show their force and sexuality, but also allow us to see their vulnerability and sensitivity.
