With this first retrospective in Germany, Mathildenhohe Institute is paying tribute to th oeuvre of Conrad Marca-Relli, the renowned US artist who was born in Boston in 1913. As co-founder of “Club of Eight Street” and as the studio neighbor and friend of artists such as Franz Kline, Jackson Pollock, Robert Motherwell, Willem de Kooning and Philip Guston, as of 1949 he was a member of the inner cirrcle of Abstract Expressionist painters in New York. Aso ne of the key initiators of the “Club” Marca-Relli played a crucial role in mounting the 1951 “Ninth Street Show”, the US post-war art. Questo catalogo appare in concomitanza con la mostra “Conrad Marca-Relli e Absract Expressionism in the United States”. Con questa prima retrospettiva in Germania, il Mathildenhohe Institute rende omaggio all'opera di Conrad Marca-Relli, il rinomato artista americano nato a Boston nel 1913.
