For a visitor to the former Berlin government district 66 years after the end of World War II, it is virtually impossible to take bearings from historical buildings. But this unique guide lets Berlin during the Third Reich come to life again, on paper. The pictures are taken from a 3D computer model Christoph Neubauer has assembled since 2003 that enables a virtual camera to simulate any historical view. Originally, Neubauer has used this technology to create documentary films. Now he has expanded into book publishing. The guide contains outline maps from the various time periods, enabling the reader to follow the manner in which the footprint of the government district has changed over the years, from 1932 to the present. A current photograph is presented on each description page to show in which direction the viewer should look from the respective location. This is juxtapositioned with a picture depicting the historic situation. The book also provides the reader with a wealth of background information on the different buildings and takes him on a walk of approximately one hour's duration to landmarks within the former Reich. Stadtführer durch Hitler's Berlin is distributed by Berlinica Publishing LLC, a multi-media publishing house based in New York City. Berlinica offers English-language books from Berlin, German; fiction, non-fiction, travel guides, history, Jewish life, art, architecture and photography, as well as books about nightlife, cookbooks, and maps. It also offers documentaries and feature films on DVD, as well as music CDs.
