This is a memoir of Sof'ia Kovalevskaia (1850-1891), a Russian mathematician, the first woman member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, and a writer. She is the author of poems, stories, novels, plays, and theatrical and literary criticism. In her memoir, Kovalevskaia tells the story of her interesting life, her meetings with many Russian writers but mostly with Fedor Dostoevskii. Also included are memoirs about Kovalevskaia by her relatives and friends: Ellen Kay, Maria Lekke, etc.
