Synopsis
En esta novela, Payno retrata el Mexico del siglo XIX -desde el mismo ambiente hasta la descripcion de los personajes- y despliega una historia romantica acerca del amor imposible entre Mariana del Sauz y Juan Robreno. Este, impulsado por las adversidades y su infausto destino, decide crear a Los Dorados, pandilla de famosos ladrones que robaban a los ricos y daban a los pobres, y que pertenecia asimismo a Los bandidos de Rio Frio, gavilla comandada por un coronel que en la vida real sirvio al mismisimo general Santa Anna. / In this novel, Payno portrays nineteenth-century Mexico - from the same environment to the description of the characters - and unfolds a romantic story about the impossible love between Mariana del Sauz and Juan Robreño. This one, driven by adversity and its unfortunate destiny, decides to create Los Dorados, a gang of famous thieves who robbed the rich and gave to the poor, and who also belonged to Los bandidos de Río Frío, a sheaf commanded by a colonel who served General Santa Anna himself.
