De España llegó Colón con sus tres carabelas y, tras él, Doña Blanca, Juan Pirulero, La Viudita de Santa Isabel, la Pájara Pinta y otros muchos personajes que al ser adoptados por los niños de aquí se volvieron mexicanos y aprendieron a cantar con palabras diferentes, a bailar con nuevos pasos y a jugar de manera distinta.
Just as our language came from Spain, so too did our traditional songs. Columbus sailed from Spain in three famed ships, and behind him there were many more to come. These stories are widely recited by children in Mexico through songs and games that are handed from down from generation to generation.

About the Author
Alejandro Magallanes is an award-winning illustrator and graphic designer with a degree from the School of Art and Design of the UNAM. His illustrations have been recognized both in his native Mexico as well as internationally. Valentín Rincón is a musician, composer, and writer of songs for children. He is the founder member of the musical group Los Hermanos Rincón. In addition to writing his own short stories and radio broadcasts, he has also undertaken compilations of traditional rounds, poems, and riddles.
